[Bounties + Honorary Bounty: week 5, Tuesday]

[on Tuesday, Milla flags down Percy, Damian and Noctis and tells them to meet her at the homestead-- the perfect, out-of-the-way place for clandestine meetings. she makes sure she arrives first (after all, part of the purpose of this meeting is to introduce Noctis to Percy and Damian as another Bounty), so when the others arrive they'll find her dutifully feeding a cow some hay from her hand]

[when all known Bounties and the Honorary Bounty arrive, she speaks up, hand resting on the cow's neck as it chews its cud]

I confirmed yesterday afternoon that Noctis is a fellow Bounty. With three of us gathered, I imagine the Sheriff will soon be introducing us to the fourth-- and last-- of our numbers.

[or is it fifth, with Percy hanging around?? he was just as good as a Bounty in her mind, after all. ah well]

And with that, I imagine we all have much to discuss.

[that makes sense to her. after all, everyone here has been getting information from Hal. but it does make her wonder. . .]

Do you think he has a role in this game, period? I remember we discussed the possibility of him being our doctor. It seems like the Sheriff chose everyone's roles very carefully.

[and Hannibal as their Doctor would be the most obvious thing]

[He shakes his head.] I don't know, but I know he's not our Doctor. You can ask Damian for more information about that. [SINCE DAMIAN WON'T TELL HIM!!!]

But I agree that the Sheriff was really smart with his roles. It'd be more impressive if it wasn't so depressing.

[DAMIAN KEEPING SECRETS!! she looks between the two, and nods]

All right, I will.

But in the meantime, can you think of any links between Jason, Annabeth and Shinnosuke off the top of your head? Other than their "teenage rebelliousness." I'm certain there is one, unless the Deputy was choosing randomly.

At one point they all spoke to each other. [Which is also what makes him wonder.] When Annabeth and I first got here, we compared notes. Two of the names she brought up were Shinnosuke and Jason. That's it. That's the one connection I can think of is that they all spoke to each other--

--and they all lied to each other. [Which. He. Just now realized.]

[blinks a few times, inclining her head slightly]

Lied? How so?

When Annabeth and I got here, we made a deal not to tell anybody where we were before this place unless it could get us some leverage. Shinnosuke told me and Annabeth two different stories about himself, and knowing Jason as well as I do now, I know he lied about what was happening for him before we came to this town, too.

And I know Annabeth lied to both of them.

Why would you all lie about something like that? It doesn't seem like dangerous information to reveal.

[Because they're all shady as fuck, probably.]

Not true. [He frowns lightly.] Where Annabeth and I are from, it's pretty dangerous to out ourselves as half-bloods. Usually we don't tell anybody except for our families or other half-bloods. Jason I can understand why he lied--[And he won't discuss it because he respects Jason]--and Shinnosuke's a huge jerk? Do you not remember what he did on Friday when we went to find Yuna?

So, I imagine that's why all of them lied to each other. I haven't exactly told a lot of people where I was before this either.

[she's not completely sure what Percy means by "half-bloods," but she isn't about to ask. nor will she pry into Jason's business either. Shinnosuke. . . well, yeah, she believes that guy would lie just for kicks, considering he did so the other day when she was panicking about Yuna. that jerk!!]

I suppose your situations are far different than my own.

[she remembers having to keep her head down during the period when she was a wanted criminal, but. that part of her life was over, so staying secretive about her whereabouts prior to Whole Ass had never occurred to her]

Even if they all lied, how would the Deputy know about that? And would the Deputy really choose them based on those lies?

[A nod. Yeah, his situation sure was Something.]

Shinnosuke brought up a good point that it's possible the Bandits are getting information about their targets that would give them incentive to go after them. How do we know the Deputy isn't, too?

[that's an interesting point Percy brings up. one she hadn't thought of yet]

But perhaps that's a question the Sheriff would be willing to answer for us, if we ask.

Maybe. That should probably be a Damian question since he's the Bounty leader. What do you think?

Of course. I'll leave it to him, then. And I know there are questions the Sheriff will only answer to those with certain roles, so I think leaving it to Damian is the best way to ensure we get an answer.

[hydrokinetics]

Do you think that means there are only certain questions he'll answer if you're asking? Does the Bounty have different roles among themselves?

Other than the leader, I don't know of any other roles between the Bounties. But-- as an example-- when I first asked the Sheriff what role the Bounty Leader was chasing, he told me that's a question he'd originally only answer for the leader themselves.

He answered it for me because he wasn't sure whether Damian would ask him that question anytime soon.

[Just. A Look at Damian because oh my gods, why.]

...yeah, okay, that's reasonable. If Hal knows we're at least helping Damian out he's more likely to answer. I think it's just important to keep asking him questions then in case one of us doesn't ask the right one.

I agree. And I suppose it's better to get rebuffed by the Sheriff than to not ask a question he would have answered at all.

Exactly. If he tells us to buzz off, then whatever. At least we tried. Let's agree on that then.
